407 ETR and our employees are committed to giving back to the community we serve. It's important to us.

One of the organizations 407 ETR values and is proud to be involved with is York University.

To show our appreciation to the thousands of York staff, students and faculty who use 407 ETR, we have created a $125,000 scholarship fund that will support students in York’s Faculty of Graduate Studies for decades to come. Each year, the 407 ETR Graduate Student Award will provide one York graduate student with a $15,000 scholarship.

Located close to 407 ETR, York University is a leading interdisciplinary research and teaching university in Canada. It has prepared thousands of students to be tomorrow’s business leaders, including many of 407 ETR’s customers and employees.

In addition, 407 ETR and our employees are committed to supporting numerous other charities, organized sports and disaster relief efforts.

SickKids Foundation:

Thousands of families across the GTA have been touched by the quality of care SickKids offers, including some of our customers and employees. We are proud to have donated $125,000 this year to SickKids to help children with cancer and support pediatric brain tumour research.

United Way:

Each year, 407 ETR and our employees gear up and participate in a fundraising campaign for United Way of York Region (UWYR). For example, in 2006, over $59,887 was raised by 407 ETR and our employees. UWYR supports 39 human care agencies delivering over 100 critical programs in five priority areas, including affordable housing, literacy and domestic violence.

The George Hull Centre for Children and Families:

407 ETR supports The George Hull Centre, one of Ontario’s leading multidisciplinary, innovative children’s mental health centres. The purpose of The George Hull Centre is to reduce suffering and to enhance the quality of life of children, youth and families.

Abilities Centre:

407 ETR is pleased to support the building of the Abilities Centre in Durham, which will be located adjacent to the Iroquois Park Sports Centre. The Abilities Centre will be a world-class recreation, athletic and performing arts facility, fully accessible to all persons with varying degrees of abilities.

Vaughan Soccer / Hockey:

407 ETR is excited to sponsor the City of Vaughan Hockey Association (CVHA) in the winter months and the Vaughan Soccer Club during the summer. Through organized sports, youth can develop skills, relationships and self-discipline while having a lot of fun. Promoting a healthier lifestyle is also important, which hopefully becomes a habit that continues on into their adult life.

Canadian Red Cross:

When natural disasters strike, 407 ETR lends a helping hand by donating to The Canadian Red Cross. The Canadian Red Cross assists people affected by emergency situations and natural disasters. Through this organization, other humanitarian organizations are also engaged to provide for people's basic needs.

Special Opportunities:

We also recognize the valuable work and assistance that other charities provide to people in need. That's why 407 ETR has supported charitable organizations like the Easter Seals, CHUM's Christmas Wish Foundation, The Salvation Army, Children's Aid of Toronto and others.
