Financial Hardship Program

407 ETR offers a Financial Hardship Program for qualifying customers who are in Plate Denial and owe in excess of $5000 on their account. This program is available to those who cannot afford to pay their outstanding charges in full, are experiencing financial difficulties and require plate renewal at MTO.

Qualification for the program involves an application, validation and approval process.

If you are accepted into the program, re-payment is based on the FULL AMOUNT owing, and consists of a down payment of 30% and equal monthly payments thereafter until the balance is paid.

Repayment Terms as follows and will be confirmed upon your admission into the Program:

  • Balance of $5000 - $9999.99 will be repaid over 12 monthly payments
  • Balance greater than $10,000 will be repaid over 18 monthly payments

Upon payment of the initial 30%, plate denial will be lifted and interest stopped, allowing for the renewal of license plate(s) at the MTO.

New charges for trips taken remain the responsibility of the applicant, and are NOT included in the payment arrangement made at the time of entering into the program. Should any new charges remain unpaid, customers will be removed from the program and Plate Denial will be reinstated.

Please note, in order to qualify, a financial disclosure form will need to be completed and signed by the customer making the application. This form will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Disclosure of income/expenses
  • Disclosure of assets
  • Credit check to be completed by agency acting on our behalf
  • Employment Information
  • Bankruptcy information (if applicable)
  • $30.00 application fee to be applied to account balance, regardless of acceptance into program

Qualification for the program is at the sole discretion of 407 ETR and its authorized collection agency, A1 Credit Recovery & Collections Services Inc. who administers the program on behalf of 407 ETR. All decisions are final, binding and not subject to appeal.

Please note, customers who have failed to qualify for the program, or have failed to honor their commitments while previously in the program, will not be eligible.
