407 ETR ready to welcome Invictus staff onto Highway 407 ETR for Invictus Games Toronto 2017

September 22, 2017

On Saturday, September 23, Invictus Games Toronto 2017 will get underway and 550 competitors from 17 nations will face 8 days of fierce competition.

As a Proud Supporter of Invictus Games Toronto 2017, 407 ETR will be opening the highway to Invictus Staff so they can get to and from the games in true 407 ETR fashion – fast, safe and reliable. Licence plates of Invictus Games staff members will be provided by Team Invictus to 407 ETR to determine the respective plates that are to receive free travel on 407 ETR during the competition.

“We are excited and consider ourselves privileged to open Highway 407 ETR to staff members of the Invictus Games” said Andres Sacristan, President and Chief Executive Officer, 407 ETR. “They have done a tremendous job in promoting the games and building excitement around Toronto. Staff will have a busy eight days ahead and so we are pleased that we can help out in this way.”

This competition, established by Prince Harry in 2014, will be one of 2017’s biggest sporting events in the world and it is fitting that it will take place in Toronto shortly after Canada celebrated its 150th anniversary.

The Opening Ceremonies, featuring musical stars Alessia Cara and Sarah McLachlin, will welcome athletes into the Air Canada Centre before competitions begin. The Closing Ceremonies will feature Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, Kelly Clarkson and Bachman & Turner on September 30. Through our partnership with the games, the Invictus Games team joins over 40 organizations across the Greater Toronto Area that 407 ETR has worked with thus far in 2017 as part of our corporate social responsibility program.

407 International Inc. is owned by Cintra Global Holding Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ferrovial S. A. (43.23%), by indirectly owned subsidiaries of Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (total 40%), and by SNC-Lavalin (16.77%).
